On March 21, 1975, Professor Michael Leckrone created a monster ... the UW Varsity Band's Annual Spring Concert. On that day, before an unexpectedly large audience of about 450 family, friends and fans in Mills Hall, the UW Band got everyone together to put on one final performance for the year and then ... have a party! But, no one would have guessed that the concert performed that night would turn into what it is today ... a three-night extravaganza complete with professional staging, lighting, sound and pyrotechnics performed for 25,000 Badgers fans each year.

What Mike Leckrone, his production staff and the Badger Band accomplish each April is extraordinary. No other college band puts on such a professional production for one night, much less three, the way the Wisconsin Band family does. How is this possible? Well, there is much dedication on the part of Mike and his staff, many of whom have been with him for 20-plus years. Then, there is the Band which embraces each performance as they know how special they are. But, the main reason these performances work is because of the support we have received from you, the Badger Band fan. Without you attending for many, many years we would not be able to present such extravagant performances. The Wisconsin Band thanks you for all of your support throughout the years.
